Fragmentation reveals;
essence remains.

Fadwa Morabet in her studio, beside her paintings
My work explores the emotional complexity of the human being through the fragmented figure. Divided faces, expressive hands and multiple gazes represent thoughts and feelings that coexist at the same time. I work from a personal reinterpretation of Cubism, where the firm line gives structure to the emotional and colour accompanies the inner states. I integrate Amazigh symbols as living memory and protection. They appear on the body as traces of identity, resistance and belonging, holding the figure when the emotional becomes fragmented. My aim is not to explain, but to generate recognition. So that whoever looks at the work may feel reflected and think: “This also speaks of Me” — Fadwa Morabet
